Maria's Message

Maria's Message

Every 65 seconds a new brain develops Alzheimer’s. Two-thirds of those brains belong to women, and scientists to this day do not know why. This means that women are at the epicenter of the Alzheimer’s crisis; which is why we must be at the heart of the solution.

There are reasons for us to feel encouraged. Scientists are just beginning to uncover what we can do now to keep our brains healthy as we age. It’s why I started The Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement and why I hope you’ll join us at Move for Minds.

We are learning more every day about how to age well—mentally, physically and spiritually. Current research shows that combining good nutrition with mental, social and physical activities may have a greater benefit in maintaining and improving brain health than any one single action. So, wherever you live, whatever your age, I invite you to join us in challenging your body and your brain—while helping us raise funds for research that may one day find a cure for Alzheimer’s.

The money raised through Move For Minds will fund critical women-based Alzheimer’s research at leading scientific institutions, universities, foundations and organizations. By studying women — who make up the majority of Alzheimer’s cases — I believe we will be able to unravel the mysteries of this disease and get closer to unlocking a cure for everyone —men and women.

Join us this November. Attend Move for Minds at Equinox Sports Club Los Angeles, or support our efforts in your community, by organizing your own fundraising event or activity. However you choose to participate, I welcome you to our movement and thank you for being part of my mission to wipe out Alzheimer’s.
